What is chiropractic?

The word chiropractic translates as "performed by hand". Chiropractic, originally, was developed as a system of healing employing vertebral (spinal bone) "adjustments" to stimulate the body's innate (natural inborn) healing abilities. Today chiropractic care is used primarily to aid the body in recovering from common musculoskeletal conditions such as back and neck pain, tension headaches, and upper and lower limb problems.

What conditions do chiropractors treat?

While Doctors of Chiropractic don't actually "treat conditions" but instead help people who have conditions, here are some of the common problems that have been demonstrated to be helped by chiropractic adjustments: lower, middle and upper back pain; tension headaches; some migraine headaches; numbness in arms/hands, legs/feet; jaw pain; shoulder, elbow and wrist problems; hip, knee, ankle and foot problems; sciatica; spinal disc problems; as well as other non-pathological neuromusculoskeletal problems.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a specific and carefully controlled pressure applied usually by hand, using an impulse from the chiropractor, applied to a vertebra or other boney structure in order to improve its position and or motion and to normalize the associated nerve and soft tissue structures.

Are chiropractic adjustments painful.

Most patients find adjustments to not be painful at all but bringing a sense of relief and well-being often instantaneously.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

The safety of chiropractic care has been thoroughly examined in numerous scientific research studies and has been found to be very safe when performed by a licensed doctor of chiropractic.

How many treatments/visits will I need?

After taking a thorough history and performing a comprehensive physical examination related to your condition and along with viewing radiological examinations and/or reports, your chiropractor will recommend a specific plan for your recovery. Depending upon what your own health goals are as well as the type, severity and length of time of your present condition, the chiropractor will customize a plan that will include time-frame, number of visits, treatment to be performed, cost, as well as any home exercises or advice required.
Most people find that they are already gaining some relief in their initial few visits; however, maximal improvement may require several weeks to a few months of care, depending on your specific condition. A re-assessment of your condition will be performed at a pre-determined point in time to determine your progress.

What is the cost per visit?

The initial visit including examination is $135. All subsequent adjustment visits are $60.

Many people have extended health care coverage which allows them to be reimbursed for some of the cost of their needed care.

How long do the visits last?

The initial examination visit is approximately 40 minutes. The second report of findings visit is 20 minutes and the subsequent adjustment visits are 5-7 minutes.

NOTE: The fees are not based on time spent (like a massage) but on the skill and expertise required by the chiropractor to achieve best results. A chiropractic adjustment, when delivered correctly, is not a slow event!

If I begin chiropractic care, do I need to keep going forever?

Of course not! Similar to exercise or eating healthy, you can stop and start care as you please. Chiropractic care does not cause your body to always need it in the future.

Once you have achieved your goals (or before if you desire) you may choose to stop your care or you may decide to continue with periodic maintenance or wellness care if you choose. The choice is always yours regarding your care.

Most people find that similar to most healthy endeavors, they feel better and healthier when they are receiving regular chiropractic adjustments.

Why should I choose you as my chiropractor among all the options that I have?

While we can't promise you that we will be able to bring you 100% complete and lasting relief from your condition, we do commit to giving you our full attention, respect, and exceptionally skilled chiropractic care with the goal of providing you with the best chiropractic experience you've ever had!
